Casa Vila Matilde Archdaily BUILDING OF THE YEAR 2016

This project, which was built in November 2015, is becoming viral, winner of the Archdaily building of the Year 2016 award, is shown as an economic construction option with Low cost materials, however the project is a creation of the Brazilian firm Terra E Tuma and not the ingenuity of a person of low resources, which many owners of the networks try to sell, the price of remodeling, the decoration and the products used are low cost , we do not know whether the fees of the people involved in this project are an economic option to build.

However, the use of pre-assembled, and a “simple” design can be the ideal option to remodel your home, expand it or start a new project, do not forget that with InTempo all those options are possible.
We share the complete article that was published in Terra and Tuma and Archdaily:

Description of the architects.
In 2011, a young man came to us to ask about the possibility of designing a house for his mother, a humble woman who lived in an old house with serious structural and sanitary problems.

Mrs. Dalva lived for decades in Vila Matilde, a suburb of São Paulo, Brazil. Her cousins, uncles, brothers and friends live near her. The first option was to sell the house, and with their lifetime savings buy a small apartment, away from their relatives and probably no elevator. A troubling situation, taking into account his advanced age.

It was obvious that displacement and isolation should be resisted. Not to get away. The design and construction of the work had to be adequate to the limited finances of the family.

At the beginning of 2014, the house showed clear signs of deterioration and began to collapse. Mrs. Dalva happened to live in a family home. The new house had to be built as fast as possible, otherwise these expenses would completely consume all your savings. We use structural blocks to erect a low-cost building, with great control and agility.

The biggest challenge appeared in the first stage of construction. The careful demolition of the old house took four months, at the same time as we executed the foundations and reinforced the dividing walls. The house was finished six months later.

The house is distributed in a plot of 4.8 m for 25 m. Downstairs has a living room, toilet, kitchen, laundry and bathroom. A joint between the bathroom, kitchen, laundry and an interior courtyard connects the living room, at the front, with the room in the back. In the center, the patio provides light and ventilation. This area also serves as an extension of the kitchen and laundry. The second floor has capacity for a guest room, which makes a total area of 95 m2. An orchard grows on top of the roof of the living room, and can be covered to accommodate future family demands. A simple solution, the result of a long, complex and rewarding process.

This was Mrs. Dalva’s house before her remodeling:

And this is the final result of the project:
